The Client AUSTAR (Australian Stock Exchange “AUN”) is a leading provider of subscription television services in regional and rural Australia, with more than 740,000 customers enjoying principally satellite digital television services.
The Brief AUSTAR wanted to establish an online video on demand (VOD) service that would work in parallel while seamlessly integrating with the relaunch of the new AUSTAR.com.au website. Their objective was to make AUSTAR.com.au an entertainment destination by providing subscribers with a digital TV experience online.
The Results “Austar Anywhere – What Foxtel Download Should Be” Switch Media has delivered what is now known as the AUSTAR AnyWhere service. The service is Flash based but the Digital Rights Management (DRM) chosen by Switch Media allows streaming and secure download on both PC and Mac. The AnyWhere service content has multiple streaming formats and archives content of 1300 hours to date for up to 60 days - this is limited only by the contractual rights provided by studios such as Disney. (This includes 500hours of published content available at anytime.) AUSTAR subscribers are now able to access hundreds of hours of premium content from 38 channels including ESPN360 and Setanta-i which features exclusive content as part of their subscription package.a |
