RWITC - Race-by-race live telecast and the archival of past races

The Client

Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) is the premier horse racing club in the western region of India. The club has two racing tracks, one in Mumbai and the other in Pune.

The RWITC is a dynamic centre and holds a number of hi-profile regular and classic
races through the racing season.

The Brief

To give race fans the ability to view the races online, both live and after the event.  And to introduce potential race goers to the world of racing.

The Focuses

Race by Race Telecast

That all races for the season are made available to patrons for live online viewing
The live stream should show all races while providing a visual of what is happening on the race course

Race Archives

The RWITC required Switch Media to archive videos of all the old races and make them available for online viewing
The current season videos were to be published online after the race being run

The Results

Switch Media successfully delivers a live telecast of each race within a two second delay, a phenomenon in comparison to the standard 15 second delay for live television broadcast. The duration of a race is often as little as one to two minutes which makes timing crucial.  The races at the RWITC, are not only telecast live on the RWITC website, they are also available shortly after the event.  The video race page of the RWITC site www.rwitc.com includes 5000 streams  per day.

Switch Media also enables archive videos for viewing on iPad and iPhones.
