Switch Media delivers music streaming platform to support enhanced Internet delivery service for Satellite Music Australia

Multi-screen video specialists Switch Media today announced it has delivered a new service platform to support the continuing delivery of Satellite Music Australia’s (SMA) managed content services.

With access to the largest digital database in the Southern Hemisphere, SMA delivers licensed content to over 3,000 venues throughout Australia and New Zealand. Content is drawn from over a quarter of a million files and includes audio, music streaming, video entertainment, advertising and marketing solutions.

Armed with a requirement to upgrade its existing service to an internet based platform and at the same time add new end user functionality SMA chose Switch Media’s cloud based platform, the Switch Media Manager, to support the launch of the new service. The Switch Media Manager is also providing workflow management, transcoding services, storage, metadata and rights management, user authentication and user channel access privileges.

RMIT Publishing is the leading provider of online research specialising in content from Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region. Through its Informit brand of online databases and search platforms, RMIT Publishing makes it easy for students and teachers to search, research and discover the content they need to get better results.

Switch Media’s role in delivering the service was to provide RMIT Publishing with a complete workflow solution, IP head-end and a friendly user experience designed specifically to deliver the required functionality.

Switch Media supports the launch of FOX SPORTS NRL App service for the iPad

Following on from their successful development of the Foxtel GO Service, multi-screen video specialists Switch Media have recently delivered platform integration and hosting services to support the operation of Fox Sport’s new NRL app service for iPad.

The new app, now available from the Apple iTunes store, provides LIVE streaming of Fox Sports five weekly matches. In addition, the app provides a VoD catch-up service for all other matches broadcast during each round, access to weekly NRL shows, and other NRL news services.  With unique dedicated fan features such as ‘My Team’ personalization, play-by-play tracking and analysis of all games played through an interactive “Match Centre”, the new app is giving NRL fans unprecedented mobile access to NRL coverage and an enjoyable social environment in which to share their favorite moments.

Gold for Switch Media’s London 2012 Olympics App

Multi-screen video specialists Switch Media today announced that the London 2012 Olympics app they developed for Foxtel’s coverage of the Games via iPad and Android was an unparalleled success registering over 150,000 downloads throughout the duration of the world’s greatest sporting spectacle.

Foxtel also used Switch Media’s cloud based video content management system, the Switch Media Manager, to manage and deliver live and On Demand content to tablets, as well as to Samsung connected TVs.

Switch Media and Magna Systems form integral part of Broadcast Asia 2012 OTT Exhibit

SYDNEY, 17 May 2012 – Multi-platform video specialists Switch Media and Magna Systems and Engineering will be at the heart of the first ever OTT exhibit at this year’s Broadcast Asia show. Magna Systems has been appointed official systems integrator of the project and Switch Media will be handling the video content management and distribution in addition to the platform design.

The exhibit sees a multitude of industry players coming together to create the show’s first live and interactive OTT exhibit.

Content will be provided by SPTL and consisting of programming in English, Mandrin and Korean with multiple episodes of each show. The source files are HD XCDAM 422 and there will also be promo and pre-roll content.
